What Makes Me?
How would people describe me? Those who do not know me would probably say ‘the girl in the wheelchair’. However, there is more to me than a disability. Although my disability is part of me; the experiences I have had as a result have made me a better person. I am still a person. I am Hannah!
When I was thinking about what makes me, me, I thought there are some facts and some opinions maybe I will include some of both!
My Hair
I have unbelievably thick, firey ginger, curly hair. Although, due to many years inside in hospital it is more auburn coloured now due to the lack of sunlight. It goes into tight ringlets after being washed and it looks as if I can be in the Lion King without a headdress once it has been brushed!

My Eyes, Face and Skin!
I have a very pale completion that makes anyone look tanned next to me. I rarely wear make-up except for special occasions, birthdays and weddings. I don’t have enough time to do it and am quite happy going for the natural look! I hate it when you can see people with thick layers of make up on! I have Hazel eyes and am never seen without my glasses on as there will be a distinct lack of vision! Well, if you ever do see me, I will not see you! I tend to go for more subtle glasses; I find the large glasses tend to look too big on my face and take away a bit of my personality.
My Height
I am very tall, 6ft 1 in height although some people who have only seen me in a wheelchair or bed and not stood up can’t believe it!
Leggings
I am a leggings kind of girl. Black ones mainly, which sounds a bit boring, but grey ones and other colours too. Apart from the summer and a few other occasions, 95% of the time I will be wearing leggings. Not the same ones you will be pleased to know though! They are just soft on my legs and comfortable and they work on someone sitting down. So many other trousers are either uncomfortable or rough or make my legs look huge, which they are definitely not. This is one issue with clothes and fashion most things are tailored for people standing up and don’t look good when you are sitting down. I don’t know what I will do if leggings go out of fashion!

My Personality
I am quite bubbly and chatty; I will talk to anyone and try and include everyone. My determination to succeed and not be beaten by the odds against me and my passion to make a difference is what makes up my personality.
This has been shaped by having to deal with a life changing illness and disability, spending many years of my teenage life in hospital, as a result being away from home at a young age. Learning to cope with obstacles and battles. In particular, losing my dear brother when I was 20.
My VERY Sweet TOOTH!
I love chocolate and cake. Chocolate pralines, truffles etc My Mum’s homemade cakes, malteaser tray bake, cupcakes and cookies. You can’t beat homemade cake and the smell that fills the house from warm, freshly baked cakes is divine!

I Am a Night Owl
Before I was ill, I was an early bird. However, I am now definitely the opposite! I seem to get a second bout of energy later in the evening, then think of all the things I have to do and try and achieve them. Then I suffer for it in the morning and wish I had gone to bed earlier. I think I need a 48-hour day!
My Creativity
I am quite arty and creative. I make cards in aid of Starlight Children’s Foundation, a charity close to my heart.

My Mathematical Brain
I definitely have a brain for numbers rather than words, although I am quite good at public speaking and I write my blog. Spelling and English is not my forte! I guess that is why I am studying accountancy part time!
My Lack of Technology Experience
I think maybe due to spending a lot of my teenage years in hospital, I may have missed out on developing my technology skills to the same level and others of my age. So, although I am not computer illiterate I am definitely not as good as fellow peers.
These are a bit of a random collection of what makes me! I hope you have enjoyed reading it.
