FreshWipes (sponsored+competition)
FreshWipes are an incredible development, created by Liz Barnes, to help people feel clean when they don’t have access to a shower.
What Makes FreshWipes Special?
FreshWipes are antibacterial and biodegradable large wipes that are so moist you can squeeze the water out. They come in two fresh fragrances: Coconut and Grapefruit.
My Opinion of FreshWipes
I have been using FreshWipes for a few weeks now and I’ve benefited from using them on early mornings, preparing for the dreaded 9am hospital appointments, when a 5am wash is just too much! I have also found them really useful if I need to freshen up in the day (I have poor temperature control), especially after physio, and if I am too tired to wash in the evening. I love the coconut fragrance the most; it actually smells like coconut! The grapefruit ones have a much milder scent. The wipes are extremely thick and strong, and I have found that one is actually enough to wash my entire body. You don’t need to rinse afterwards, but at the same time are not left feeling sticky, something I particularly hate. I am impressed with them.

FreshWipe Uses
You may be thinking: “This is no good for me because I am not disabled.” (I know not all of my readers are). However, after thinking about it, I realised how many uses these wipes have. Here are some of the people, or situations, I think could benefit from these wipes:
- Disabled, acute and chronically ill people
- Hospital stays/post surgery
- Elderly people
- Mothers with newborn babies
- Festival goers
- Duke of Edinburgh’s Award (D of E)
- Camping
- After sports
- HGV drivers
- Freshening up throughout the day
Personally, for me, I think they would have been particularly beneficial when I was bedbound and after post surgery. I can still remember those Conti wipes; the nurses had the special ability of wringing them out until they were almost bone dry! I don’t know whether they were trying to not get the bed wet, or what the aim was, but it certainly didn’t feel like I was clean afterwards. It’s not refreshing to be washed with a dry wipe!
FreshWipes Cost
FreshWipes are £5.99 a pack, £20 for 5 (on a current offer, normally £29.95), £39 for 10 (on a current offer, normally £59.99) and a box of 30 for £99. Initially, I thought this was quite expensive, however for the quality, and the fact you only need one for a good wash of your entire body, I think they are definitely worth it.
