2019- A year of achievement
2019 has been a year of achievement for me. I have not completed everything I set out to do, but I am proud of what I have achieved.
I completed my last AAT exam at the beginning of the year and then graduated with a distinction in September.

I spent a quarter of the year in The Wolfson unit for neuro rehabilitation. This was tough. Tougher than I imagined, nevertheless with fantastic specialist input I succeeded in making amazing progress.
I had the good news that 13 months post my major surgery to my femur in 2018, my femur had healed!
I competed in the Superhero Tri in August. Walking the last few steps with Ami with our Zimmer frames and support over the finish line! I had a fantastic #Teamhannah, together we raised over £2000 for White Lodge.

I have done a motivational speech at a local secondary school and presented the Duke of Edinburgh awards and have done speeches with my ambassador role, raising awareness of disability and White Lodge…including an interesting speech at The Cubs where they didn’t have a ramp! I nearly had to do the speech outside!
I have done a couple of guest posts for Scope and am now a online columnist for Able magazine, I have written a couple of articles for them. Here are the links if you would like to read them:
I have continued my blog aiming to raise awareness and have now had more than 10000 views. It is not about numbers but hopefully if it has given hope, supported and made a difference to a couple of people then it is worthwhile.
I have also continued in making my handmade cards in aid of Starlight Children’s Foundation. Christmas was particularly busy as I made Christmas cards to sell at the Starlight carol concert, ‘Christmas by Starlight’ where I was also the ‘film star’ about a wish child, my wish and the impact it has.
Within the same week I was also filmed for a video about White Lodge, my experience and the support they have given me.
I started work experience in the finance department of a lovely company. Well I say started…I have done one day so far! Nevertheless I have started it in 2019!…Just!
Finally, in general with several hours of continued daily physiotherapy and in combination of support from the 3 month inpatient stay at the Wolfson Unit and White Lodge I have made some great progress this year. Last year I took my first step in 13.5 years and this year I have continued to build on that. I am now managing to take some steps with my SAFOs, four wheeled Walker and the support of a person. Slow and steady wins the race…Well very, very slow!

Fantastic info. I used to spend alot of my time wakeboarding
and being involved in games. It was possibly the best sequence of my
young life and your article kind of reminded me of that. Thanks
